Got no money for food

FIDLAR – Got No Money

Saw FIDLAR first thing upon arriving at FYF last weekend, so I thought it was appropriate to put one of their newer songs on here. This is off their album DIYDUI, which just goes to show how funny these guys. Their lyrics are always composed of drinking, doing drugs, and doing absolutely nothing else all day long, which is reminiscent of this summer as it comes to an end. I loved seeing them live and they opened with “Cheep Beer” with the singable lyrics “I! DRINK! CHEAP! BEER! SO! WHAT! FUCK! YOU!” So check ’em out. They’re fun.

Not back at school yet, but will be “officially” back on September 27th (which is a long-ways from now…).

New Music Video by Moon Duo

Moon Duo – Sleepwalker

Stumbled upon this because of I recently subscribed to King Khan and the Shrines, a Canadian band, and their lead singer volunteered to be in this video. Check out the music video here. This space/psychedelic rock is just so good. The instrumentation is just too good to pass up. Moon Duo is the side project of Ripley Johnson, who also plays in the Wooden Shjips. This song is super indie just because Moon Duo doesn’t even have a Wiki page. That’s how I know. But it’s a fantastic song, and you should check out the video as well.

Cornered by natural desire

The Shins – It’s Only Life

This is so beautiful. This song is off the Shins’ newest album Port of Morrow, which is an amazing album as well. The Shins were one of the first indie bands I started listening to way back in 2007, after listening to the indie radio station at the time and then receiving Wincing the Night Away from a friend as a present. I think this will be a song I have on repeat for an hour or so. It’s sooooo beautiful. I don’t know what else to say about it. I think I’ll work on a drawing inspired by this song. That’s all I have to say about that.

Who’s gonna sing out loud

David Byrne and St. Vincent

David Byrne & St. Vincent – Who

Fantastic duo. I’m so glad these two found each other and are putting out the album “Love this Giant.” This is a great song with fantastic brass and beats. This single came out a few weeks ago, but the music video just came out today, so check it.

Sorry I’ve been missing in action for a while; I’ve had a ton of things going on. I went to FYF Fest this weekend and so I’ve been pooped working for UCLA Radio and doing blog reviews and letting people know what my top picks are. You can find them at Uclaradio.com. My “official” DJ name is Miska, so look for that, if you’re interested. I posted a whole bunch of videos. Also going to do a post-show review, and I’ll be sure to link that to you as soon as I get it done.

I promise I’ll get back on finding more new music. I gotta start posting every other day now.
