Just have been teaching myself Spanish in the past few days and I’m almost moving onto the next level! Though I still have to learn all of the vocabulary or else I can go nowhere.

Can’t believe I forgot to post this! Found it the other day on the Rolling Stone’s website, and I’ve been a fan of the Mynabirds for at least a year. This is off their latest album “Generals.” I think around this time last year I posted some other songs by them, but check out their other songs like “Let the Record Go” or “Generals” or “Numbers Don’t Lie.” They are all fantastic tracks.
No plans for today except to do some art and get some work done. Hopefully I’ll get somewhere on my essay, which at the moment is only halfway done. Otherwise just painting and comic book drawing and writing and reading. Today I’m a shut-in.
Got the worst sunburn today. Went hiking with a friend in Griffith Park and of course I forgot to bring the sunscreen. I think that the sun eventually is good for me, since I don’t stay out too often. I mean, people spend about 90% of their time indoors and I want to make sure I get my weekly dose of outdoors. Anyway, had a great time, and stopped by a street fair afterwards, and now I’m just listening to this song and loving it. Again, thank you to KCRW’s Top Tune for putting this one out.
Oh yeah! Went to see Portugal. the Man as part of KCRW’s Who Shot Rock and Roll convert series. It was an okay concert, and I did enjoy myself. Was expecting them to play a little bit more T. Rex, just because the invite said that it would be a tribute to the band. Make sure you check out Raphael Saadiq and Band of Skulls next time around! Have to admit, the new release from the xx took me a while of getting used to, but I’m in love with it and listened to it on repeat last night, so maybe it might take a bit of growing, but it’s still pretty fantastic. This was released on YouTube yesterday, so it’s fresh! Thanks to J. Huieezy for finding this one right away. You may not like it that much, but it deserves a spot on my blog.
Not been doing much, sat around knitting a doll yesterday, which was productive, but tiring. Today I took a walk up to sunset to dispose of my compost and I think that’s about as much exercise that I’ll be getting these days. Eventually, maybe this weekend, I’ll go hiking. I think to Griffith, unless I decide otherwise. We shall see.
THIS SONG IS FANTASTIC. Off their album “Mixed Emotions,” which I believe describes where I’m at right now. I found it in the Rolling Stone a few months ago, but I totally forgot to post it and I have to because I just reheard it on a TV show.

So I finally unpacked everything and also brought my sewing machine to my apartment, so I’ll finally be fixing up all the old clothes that need repairing or sprucing up with lace or other decorative fabrics.
Got my cavities filled. Dentist says I got them to begin with because my mouth is small and so she gave me a kid’s toothbrush, with a little face on it and everything.

Forgot to post this one a whiles back, but it’s fantastic and Santigold is amazing. This is her newest that I found earlier this week, and if you get a chance, search around for the music video (the one I had originally was taken down on youtube).
Been cooking a lot. I recently made the “hippie stirfry”, which is just stirfry onion, garlic, 3-5 different vegetables (i put peppers, broccoli, tofu, and carrots) and throw some soy sauce on that bizznazz. Then you can serve it over some type of grain, and I’m just using Jasmine Rice because that’s the cheapest so far.
Living in an apartment has proven to be exciting and making me feel independent in my decisions, but obviously comes with a lot of responsibilities. Making food everyday is just one of them, and another is cleaning and making sure you don’t completely trash the place, which has proven to be a little more difficult because of our hardware floors. Let’s just hope I don’t burn down the house.
And I recently got my desk, for only $30, and it’s the best thing in the world. Just have one more box and one more duffel bag to unpack and then I’ll be all settled in. And then just have to wait for the couches and coffee table to come in.
Also have been doing a lot of graphic design. I’ve been working on a comic book and so the past few days have been hardcore character designing. Keeps me busy in my spare time when I’m not working at Heal the Bay, and hopefully I’ll be able to get a job at the library soon enough. This has been a long post by yours truly, so I’m gonna sign off and work on other things. Keep on checking back for more music! And for your viewing pleasure, another character design!
Guess I’m going with the international theme, but this one is just so cool. Like the soundtrack for an espionage or James Bond movie. It’s this kind of music I want to drive along the beach to with the windows rolled down with my hair rolling free. Very very catchy. Currently at my first day of work (not to worry; I’m on break), and this is the firs time in a while that I’ve had internet access. The internet guys are supposed to be coming in later today to set up the wifi, but the apartment is looking great so far! Moved in on Monday and now just worrying about getting a desk and shelves and putting together meals everyday. Made corn and banana bread for the 4th of July, and it was a hit! Probably will be making more bread with the leftover old bananas in the fridge. Will be updating more soon but for now I gotta dash! Will be updating when I can.
